Kings Call Up Clune; Segal Joins Dallas

Rich Clune will join the LA Kings today after being recalled from Ontario.

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have recalled forward Richard Clune from the Ontario Reign (ECHL), Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. In addition, the Dallas Stars have today claimed forward Brandon Segal off of waivers.


Clune, 22, has not played for the Reign this season. He has played in 41 games with the Monarchs and has 12 points (3=9=12) and a team-leading 119 penalty minutes. The 5-10, 198-pound native of Toronto has never played in the NHL. He was acquired by the Kings from Dallas on July 21, 2008, in exchange for Lauri Tukonen and he will wear No. 56.

Segal, 26, played in 25 games this season with the Kings, his first with the club, and had two points (1-1=2) and 20 penalty minutes. He also has played in 21 games with Manchester this season and had 14 points (6-8=14) and 34 penalty minutes.

The Kings host the Edmonton Oilers tonight at STAPLES Center at 7:30 p.m. to begin a two-game homestand. The homestand concludes on Saturday against Colorado at 7:30 p.m. Following Saturday night’s game, the Olympic Break begins.
