LOS ANGELES – A six-game homestand – beginning with the club's home opener on October 7 versus the St. Louis Blues -- helps the Los Angeles Kings kick off their 2006-07 regular season schedule, the NHL and the Kings announced Wednesday.

For the third consecutive year, the Kings open their season away from STAPLES Center. They travel to Anaheim to officially begin their 2006-07 regular season on Friday, October 6, versus the Ducks at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim at 7 p.m. The Kings then host the Blues on Saturday, October 7, at STAPLES Center at 7:30 p.m. The Kings-St. Louis home opener begins a season-high six game homestand that also features the New York Islanders (October 10), two consecutive games against the Dallas Stars (October 12 and 14), the Detroit Red Wings (October 16) and the Minnesota Wild (October 18).

The 82-game schedule has the Kings playing 41 games at STAPLES Center and the rest on the road. The Kings' second longest homestand (five games) of the season takes place November 9 – 18 and the longest road trip of the season (five games) takes place from February 3 – 13.

The League utilizes a staggered schedule. The Kings play eight times against divisional opponents and four games against teams in the Central and Northwest Divisions of the Western Conference. The Kings this season host the five clubs from the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division (New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers and the Pittsburgh Penguins) while traveling to the Eastern Conference's Southeast Division (Atlanta Thrashers, Carolina Hurricanes, Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Washington Capitals).

The Kings host the cross-town Ducks on October 22, December 2, February 17 and March 1, while Los Angeles' Northern California foes, the San Jose Sharks, make visits to STAPLES Center on November 9, November 13, December 12 and January 11.

The Kings complete their road game schedule with a three-game trip from April 1 – 5 (at San Jose, at the Vancouver Canucks and at the Phoenix Coyotes), before hosting the regular season finale on April 7 versus Phoenix.
