LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with unrestricted free agent defenseman Brad Fast, Kings Senior Vice President/General Manager Dave Taylor announced today. Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not announced.
Fast, 25, recorded six points (1-5=6) and 23 penalty minutes in 32 regular season games with the Lowell Lock Monsters (AHL) during the 2004-05 season. The 6-0, 195-pound native of St. John, British Columbia, added another seven points (2-5=7) and zero penalty minutes in 14 regular season games with the Florida Everblades (ECHL). Fast also appeared in 18 post-season games with the Everblades – who advanced to the Kelly Cup Finals before losing to the Trenton Titans, four-games-to-two - collecting four points (1-3=4) and six penalty minutes.
Originally selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the third-round (84th overall) of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Fast - who ranked among the AHL's top 20 defensemen in scoring with 35 points (10-25=35) during his rookie season of 2003-04 with the Lock Monsters - has one goal (1-0=1) and zero penalty minutes in one career NHL game with the Hurricanes.
