LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have activated center Eric Belanger from the injured reserve list and he is expected to play in tomorrow's Kings-Mighty Ducks game at STAPLES Center, Kings President, Hockey Operations/General Manager Dave Taylor announced today.
Belanger, 28, was placed on the injured reserve list on January 4 (retroactive to December 30) due to a groin injury he suffered during the Kings-Phoenix game on December 27. He has missed the last Kings' last 16 games.
In 38 games with the Kings this season, Belanger has 24 points (11-13=24), 32 penalty minutes and a plus-five rating. At the time of the injury, Belanger's 11 goals tied for fifth on the club. In 296 career NHL regular season games, all with the Kings, the 6-0, 188-pound native of Sherbrooke, Quebec, has 137 points (57-80=137) and 139 penalty minutes.
