Kelly Hrudey interview on NHL Live 5/21/08
Hrudey talks about how excited he is about this Stanley Cup Finals and all of the explosive offense to look forward to.
He also breaks down the emergence of Marc-André Fleury in the Pittsburgh net and discusses Chris Osgood in the Detroit net.
Hrudey played for the Kings from 1989–1996 and is second on the Kings all-time list amongst goalies in games played (360) and wins (145). Overall with the Kings, Hrudey posted a 145-135-55 record, with 10 shut outs and a 3.46 GAA in 360 games. He is best remembered for helping the Kings advance to the 1993 Stanley Cup Finals.
A good quote from the interview: "I really struggled with [mental toughness] as a goaltender. I was okay if I had lots of activity, but I was involved in a lot of games where my mind would wonder and I would think, 'hmm, I wonder what I am going to do on my off day tomorrow. Are we going to go to Disneyland tomorrow or to the beach?' Those kind of things I was not good at keeping out of my head, where a guy like Chris Osgood has an incredible skill where he can just turn off the brain and play hockey."
