The pre-game ceremony honoring NHL security representative McClary will mark the first time that all five Kings who have had their jerseys retired will be in attendance in Kings history as Vachon (jersey No. 30 retired on Feb. 14, 1985), Dionne (jersey No. 16 retired on Nov. 8, 1990), Taylor (jersey No. 18 retired on April 3, 1995), Gretzky (jersey No. 99 retried on Oct. 9, 2002) and Robitaille (jersey No. 20 retired Jan. 20, 2007) are all slated to participate.
“It will be a special night for Kings’ fans,” said Robitaille, the Kings' President of Business Operations. “It is the first time that each of these players will be together in our building, and we are coming together for a special ceremony to honor a special man."
McClary has worked for the organization since 1967.
“It is a great way to thank Lou for his tremendous work with this franchise over the years and for our fans to enjoy,” continued Robitaille. “Coming to Los Angeles, Lou was one of the first faces that I saw. He has always been around since the beginning and done a lot for this franchise. We always knew as long as Lou was around we were safe.”
The ceremony will be broadcast live on FS West in its entirety and fans are encouraged to arrive at STAPLES Center prior to 7:30 p.m. to see the ceremony.
