HOCKEY FIGHTS CANCER NIGHT MONDAY

by Staff Writer / Los Angeles Kings
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings will host Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Night this Monday, Oct. 27, when the club hosts the Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings at STAPLES Center at 7:30 p.m. October is the NHL’s Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness month.

As part of the evening, Kings and Red Wings players will be wearing special player helmet decals; coaches and broadcasters will be wearing special ties; and players will be wearing special Reebok caps (during post-game/pre-game interviews and/or the back-up goalies on the bench).

There will also be a number of team initiatives throughout the evening in support of Hockey Fights Cancer, one of which will include a special pre-game puck drop (featuring Dr. Ronald Kvitne, Dr. Michael Mellman and Dr. Howard Lazerson of the Kings medical staff).

Members of the Kings Ice Crew will be available for pictures on the concourse for a $10 donation to Hockey Fights Cancer. The Kings Care Foundation will also be selling mini pink helmets for a $15 donation.

In addition, the Childrens Hospital Los Angeles blood mobile will be onsite pre-game from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. for anyone who wishes to donate. Your donations will support the infants and children that Childrens Hospital Los Angeles serves.

The Kings have partnered with several organizations as part of Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Night, including City of Hope, Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Women’s Cancer Research Institute.

Monday night will also mark the first of six scheduled Kings’ Salute to Heroes nights at STAPLES Center. Healthcare Professionals will be honored as part of the Kings-Red Wings game, and these groups purchasing individual and group tickets are eligible for discounted ticket packages through the Kings’ Group Sales department. Individual and group ticket packages, with proceeds benefiting the Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Night charities, are available for purchase through LAKings.com/heroes or by calling 1.888.KINGS.LA.
