Kings World Championship Coverage

Oleg Saprykin and Alexander Radulov scored to lead Russia to the Gold. Frolov was scoreless for the game, but finished the tournament scoring 3-1=4 in seven games. Defenseman Drew Doughty was scoreless as well in the final, finishing the tournament scoring 1-6=7 in nine games. He was also a plus-5 and contributed 13 shots to help Canada to the Silver.

As for Team USA, Jack Johnson scored his team-leading fifth goal of the tournament, but it was not enough as Sweden downed the Americans, 4-2 in the Bronze-Medal game. Dustin Brown was scoreless in the loss to Sweden but finished second on Team USA in scoring with 3-5=8, Peter Harrold went scoreless in three games and Johnson tallied 5-2=7 for the Americans.

"Unfortunately, we weren’t able to take home the bronze," Brown wrote in his blog on KaBOOM! "Still, It’s quite amazing that out of 16 teams in the tournament that the USA had a chance to win the bronze. What makes that amazing is that we are the youngest team in the tournament with an average age of 24.2 years. We were the underdogs coming into the tournament."

Michal Handzus was the sixth member of the Kings organization participating in the World Championships, finishing 10th with Team Slovakia. Handzus finished with four assists in six games and a plus-two rating.
