Willie Mitchell returned to STAPLES Center on Tuesday night for the first time since signing a two-year deal with the Florida Panthers in July. During the game's first stoppage of play, fans gave a standing ovation for the defenseman who helped bring two Stanley Cup championships to Los Angeles.
Trevor Lewis scored a go-ahead goal Thursday night against the Carolina Hurricanes, giving the Kings a 2-1 lead just 37 seconds into the second period. Lewis took time to admire his scrappy goal on the jumbotron, and so did Hurricanes' coach Bill Peters...kind of.
'Pearson At The Plate'
Tanner Pearson whacked home the game-winning goal Thursday night against the Carolina Hurricanes, batting a puck out of mid-air past Cam Ward. Pearson's act game one game too late, as the Kings held 'Dodger Appreciation Night' in the previous game against the Panthers.
'Dwyer Can't Even'
With time winding down and the Hurricanes desperately looking for a game-tying goal, Jonathan Quick robbed Elias Lindholm with a beautiful glove save to hold on to the Kings' lead, and eventually the win. Patrick Dwyer was watching from the bench, somebody get him a barf bag.
Matt Greene opened the scoring for the Kings Tuesday night against the Florida Panthers, redirecting home a Brayden McNabb shot past Roberto Luongo. Greene, who doesn't usually find himself low in the opponent's zone, let alone score a goal, wasn't quite sure how to react.
