Game 6 - Postgame Report

by Staff Writer / Los Angeles Kings

(Re game recap): “We battled back and I think we just made a couple mistakes. I thought we were doing a good job on [Patrick] Kane and then getting kind of spacey made two great plays. I don’t think we can expect to give up four goals in one game. It’s been our problem the last two games, giving up too many goals and that’s the result of making mistakes in the neutral zone and mistakes on coverage. If we clean that up, we’re good.”

(Re Game 7): “Going into their building is tough but we’ve proven we can go in there and win, so it’s just a matter of getting that right mindset.”

(Re game recap): “I think obviously it’s not what we wanted. We got to be able to maintain leads and keep intensity and keep composure and keep making plays. We obviously came up short tonight so we’ll learn from it and got to win Game 7.”

(Re Game 7): “Experience, having dealt with the situation before, but at the end of the day if you have a problem getting up for Game 7 you have bigger issues. It’s a one game playoff now to make it to the finals, so we just have to focus and play a hard game going in there.”

(Re game recap): “We got to learn from it, we move on. We have a one game playoff here in their building to punch a ticket to the finals and we got to focus and learn from our mistakes tonight and go in there ready to play.”

(Re Patrick Kane): “It’s unbelievable, I looked at him, I think it was about a minute left, I think there was a stoppage of play and I almost started laughing. It’s amazing what he can do in these big games, when our season is on the line and nobody else seems to be able to do it the same way he does it, it’s pretty amazing.”

(Re game recap): “I think we can look at some situations in the past and maybe earlier in the series would have haunted us a little more and we weren’t able to overcome, but we give up a one-goal lead and go down one goal with two back-to-back goals against in the third there and it never feels good but we didn’t stop and we just knew we wanted to get back into it and we found a way and it’s nice to see that resiliency.”

(Re Patrick Kane): “Everybody is competing, everybody is trying in there different skill level amongst individual players but I thought everybody competed tonight. Brookbank came in and filled the job there to give our guys a shift off. Ben Smith played good, all the guys competed. It’s a team effort when you win these types of games, even though certain guys might score the goal or something like that but all the plays add up.”
