by Staff Writer / Los Angeles Kings

The LA Kings have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent defenseman Zach Trotman on a one-year contract, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

The 25-year-old Trotman (born August 26, 1990) is a 6-3, 217-pound native of Carmel, Indiana, who appeared in 38 regular season games with Boston last season (2-5=7, +3, 22 PIM).

Originally a seventh-round selection (210th overall) by Boston at the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Trotman has played three seasons in the NHL – all with the Bruins. In 67 career regular season games he has 12 points (3-9=12), and 22 penalty minutes. He made his Bruins/NHL debut at Ottawa on December 28, 2013, and he scored his first NHL goal at Detroit on April 2, 2015.

Trotman made his pro debut with the Providence Bruins (AHL) during the 2011-12 season. Prior to that, he played at Lake Superior State (NCAA) for three seasons (2009-12).
