Tonight marks the first of two meetings with the Islanders this season; the Kings will travel to New York’s Barclays Center on February 11 to complete the series. New York is playing the second of a three-game California road trip, they’re coming off of a 4-2 win over the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night. The Kings are playing the fourth of a five-game home stand; they’re coming off of a 3-2 loss to the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday night.
LINEUP: The Kings held an optional morning skate at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo in anticipation of tonight’s match up … Jordan Weal and Derek Forbort remained on the ice for extra with Matt Greene (IR), so those two are expected to be healthy scratches … Jhonas Enroth was the first goaltender to leave the ice, and has been confirmed as tonight’s starter

CALLING FOR BACKUP: Jhonas Enroth is set to make his third start of the season; he comes into the night with a 2-0-0 record with a .984 SV% and a 0.50 GAA. Enroth made 24 saves, earning his sixth career NHL shutout in his previous start on November 3 in the Kings’ 3-0 win against the St. Louis Blues. Enroth has made one career start against the Islanders, coming last season on December 27, 2014 with the Sabres, making 33 saves on 39 shots in Buffalo’s 4-3 win.
ISLAND LIFE: The Kings went 1-0-1 against the Islanders in two meetings last season, falling 2-1 in a SO on November 6, 2014 at STAPLES Center, and winning 3-2 on March 26, 2015 at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The Kings have earned points in each of their last five games when hosting the Islanders, dating back to October 10, 2006.
