News, notes and anecdotes from the Kings vs. the Dallas Stars
Note: This column is read from bottom to top.

FINAL

Kings kill off the penalty and draw a hooking penalty, and they will be on the power play for the remaining two minutes of the game.

With four seconds left on the power play, Rob Blake picked up a two-minute charging penalty...four seconds of a two-man advantage and the Kings will be shorthanded for half of the remaining four minutes of the game. Kings still holding on to a 2-1 advantage.

14:06, Stars go on the power play with Johnson heading to the sin bin after a slash.

At 13:01, Kopitar grabbed a rebound in front of the Stars net but he was unable to get a shot off past a beaten Turco before being removed from the crease by the Dallas defense.

Kings take a 2-1 lead on Frolov's goal He beat Turco to his stick side at 1:40. Derek Armstrong made the play, doing the dirty work on the boards and putting a nice backhanded pass right to the stick of a streaking Frolov. Rob Blake also earned an assist on the play. So Frolov has now scored goals in three straight games and points in seven straight, his career high is eight. Blake has three assists in his last two games and Armstrong has assists in three straight games as well.

END PERIOD TWO

17:50, Kings on the power play. Steve Ott two minutes for holding.

A little four on four play at 12:14 when Norstrom and Jack Johnson took penalties for holding and slashing respectively.

For Willsie it was his first goal in 15 games dating back to last season...

TIE GAME KINGS SCORE. Brian Willsie in front of the net controlled a loose rebound of a Michael Cammalleri shot and beat Turco to his glove side. Calder also with an assist on the play which occured at the 10-minute mark. Kings score their first of the game and Willsie his first of the season.

Modry high sticking, Stars on the power play at 6:51.

Kings have had a couple of odd man rushes so far in the second. We are through five minutes, with nothing doing so far.

END PERIOD ONE

Stars go up 1-0 at 16:05. Brendan Morrow had the puck behind the net and put a pass in front of the net and Jere Lehtinen scored for a 1-0 lead.

Lines look like this, best I can tell:
Frolov - Kopitar - Nagy
Cammalleri - Handzus - Brown
Calder - O'Sullivan - Willsie
Ivanans - Armstrong - Zeiler

Power Play over. Still scoreless, 6-5 Stars lead in shots.

Lubomir Visnovsky commits a  high-sticking penalty at the 6:38 mark, and the Stars will be on the power play. By the Way, Kelly Hrudey in the house. Other celebrities in the house, Stacy Keibler, George Stults, Warren Christie, Sam Page and Armando Montelongo are all in attendance as well. Yes Stacey Keibler! Will try very hard to get some photos.

Game is underway. The Stars have recorded two shots so far on goal.

This just in....Lines are broken up tonight. The starters are Ladislav Nagy - Anze Kopitar - Alexander Frolov with Jack Johnson and Jaroslav Modry on defense and Jason LaBarbera in the cage.

Dallas starters: Mattias Norstrom and Sergei Zubov on defense with Jeff Halpern, Stu Barnes and Joel Lundqvist in the forward spots and who other than Marty Turco in the goal.

Not sure why, but the Kings are sporting the road whites tonight, will look into this later.

Tonight marks the return of Crown Points after a one-home game hiatus and the Kings look to snap a nine-game losing streak to the Fighting Dave Taylors...I mean the Dallas Stars.
