Red Wings penalty 14:38 Niklas Kronvall, two minutes tripping...Kings on the power play.
Zetterberg scores his first of the ninth, fourth of the season with a wrap-around at 7:21. Holmstrom and Datsyuk with the assists.
Power play over and a Red Wings goal at 5:39. Tomas Holmstrom with his fifth goal on the season from Zettterberg and Datsyuk on a 3-on-2 rush.
Another Detroit penalty, Andreas Lilja with a high stick at 1:31, Kigns will have a 5-on-3 for 1:20...Michael Cammalleri with a goal a one-time slap shot from the face off circle. Lubomir Visnovsky set up the play with the pass. Alexander Frolov will also get the assist. Kings STILL ON THE POWER PLAY.
END PERIOD 2
Kings will be on the power play for the last 10 seconds of the second period and the first 1:50 of the third period after Kris Draper picked up a boarding penalty.
No penalties to report. Wings lead Kings in shots, 22-18.
4:47- Lubomir Visnovsky, two minutes for interference and the Wings are on the power play.
3:04 Kings turn the puck over and Kris Draper scores his fourth goal of the season, unassisted, taking the puck at the Red Wings blueline building up a lot of speed down the boards, cutting to the net and beating Bernier to the stick side.
1:46: Brian Rafalski, two minutes for hooking. His second penalty of the game and the Kings have a good scoring opportunity here to even the score.
The goal has been changed at 8:20, Pavol Datsyuk with the goal and Zetterberg with the assist. Datsyuk was in front of the net on the Zetterberg shot and got a stick on the rebound.
Red Wings get on the board first with an even strength goal at :40 of the second. Henrik Zetterberg with the goal and Pavol Datsyuk wtih the assist. Zetterberg took a shot from just outside of the left faceoff circle and Bernier got a piece of it but not all of it and did not control the puck having it trickle between his legs.
END PERIOD 1
Dustin Brown at 18:40 commits and interference penalty, end power play for the Kings and the Wings will get an abbreviated power play that will close out the first and start the second period.
Detroit penalty, two minutes for tripping at 16:57, Brian Rafalski in the sin bin.

Powerplay is over without the Kings converting. There were numerous scoring chances on the pp however and now the Kings lead in shots, 11-6.

Half way through the first period, the game has been chippy, but no penalties have been called thus far. Wings lead in shots, 6-4.

Tonight is the 40th anniversary of the Kings first-ever game in franchise history as the Kings beat the Flyers, 4-2 on Oct. 14, 1967...Ironically a year ago today, Michael Cammalleri scored the 10,000th goal in Kings history in a 4-1 loss to Dallas.
Kings are looking to snap a four-game losing streak and will look to do so against a team that has won 13-of-14 against them.
Tonight's starters: Tom Preissing back from a two-game absence due to the flu, will be paired with Brad Stuart and in defense of Jonathan Bernier in the cage. The line of Derek Armstrong, Michael Cammalleri and Alexander Frolov will get the start.
For the Wings, Chris Osgood in net, with Niklas Kronvall and Andreas Lilja on defense and a Chris Draper - Kirk Maltby - Daniel Cleary line up front.
