News, notes and anecdotes from the Kings vs. San Jose Sharks on Nov. 3.
Note: The column is read from bottom to top.

LaBarbera pulled at 19:11, Kings skating at 6-on-5 with an empty net, Roenick is still on the ice, and with that open net, we may get a chance at seeing No. 500.

Kings on the power play at 15:02...nothing doing.

Jonathan Cheechoo scores at 13:37 with a one-timer that just bounced off the pad off LaBarbera and in the net. 3-1 lead for the Sharks.

We are midway through period No. 3, nothing to report. Sharks have out-shot the Kings, 25-18, and amazingly, the Kings have had just one penalty to this point.

LaBarbera just kept his team in the game, making a brilliant save on a breakaway by Marcel Goc.

With not much to update, I finished this photo gallery from today's KROQ tailgate party, so check them out

You may have noticed that there have not been many updates this period...well it is just flying by with a lot of skating, not a lot of scoring opportunities and barely any penalties.

Roenick gets booed relentlessly by this Kings crowd that still remembers his disappointing 9-13=22 season in 2005-06 in Los Angeles. The goal, of course, was his 499th. With his next goal, he will become the third American-born player and 40th overall to score 500 goals. That would be ironic if it happens tonight.

Then Jeremy Roenick broke the tie at 10:38 as a rebound just sort of trickled to him and he swatted at it and beat LaBarbera. Alexei Semenov and Kyle McLaren earned assists on the play.

END PERIOD 1, 1-1 tie.

Alexei Semenov, two minutes for hooking at 7:38.  Kings on the power play, which has been clicking, converting 16 of 72, including 13 of 50 at STAPLES Center, a 26-percent rate.

5:28, Brad Stuart ties it up, scoring against his former team off an assist from Brian Willsie.

Kings will have a chance to match, 3:27, Matthew Carle two minutes for interference.

2:21 Joe Pavelski with the Power Play goal with Joe Thornton and Jonathan Cheechoo earning assists on the play and it is 1-0 San Jose.

1:08 - Alexander Frolov, two minutes for hooking. SJ on the power play.

Tonight's starters: Kings: Jack Johnson and Jaroslav Modry on defense, Mike Cammalleri, Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown are the forwards with Jason LaBarbera in goal. San Jose: Sandis Ozolinsh and Marc-Edouard Vlasic on defense, Milan Michalek, Joe Thornton and Devin Setoguchi are the forwards with last night's starter, Evgeni Nabakov in the goal.
