Black & White - 2. Equipment

by Staff Writer / Los Angeles Kings

There’s an abundance of work that goes into keeping the Kings’ roster on the ice day-in and day-out, and a lot of it goes unseen by the common eye.

Much like fans depend on the skills, strength, and effort of the players to bring home a win on any given game night, those same players depend on a special syndicate of staff to ensure that they can play to the best of their abilities once they hit the ice.

In this Episode of ‘Black & White’ Head Equipment Manager Darren Granger, who is entering his 10th season with the Kings, along with his assistants Dana Bryson and Joe Alexander, take us through a day in the life of the Equipment staff, which, on game days, begins at 7AM, and extends well past midnight.

Whether it’s dealing with broken sticks, sharpening skates, or patching up battered jerseys after a fight, these guys are on call whenever the need arises, and are a vital part of the team’s success and operations.
