On Tuesday January 28, Alex Iafallo, LA Kings staff, and SoCalGas volunteers went to Dockweiler Beach to perform a beach cleanup with Heal the Bay.
In total, over 70 pounds of trash were picked up including over 250 cigarette butts! The cigarette butts go to a recycling program that turns them into surfboards.

Alex Iafallo Beach Clean Up

Over the course of three hours, participants were educated on why it so important to keep our beaches clean, and where all of the trash that gets left behind ends up.

Keeping our beaches clean is not only important for the environment, but it can help save countless marine life. The amount of trash that ends up in our oceans kills many animals that mistake that trash for food.
Because who doesn't want to save the turtles!?
