The LA Kings have recalled defenseman Paul LaDue from the Ontario Reign (AHL) and placed defenseman Alec Martinez on injured reserve, retroactive to Oct. 3, Kings Vice President and General Manager Rob Blake announced today.

Martinez is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

The 24-year-old LaDue (born Sept. 6, 1992) is a 6-2, 201-pound native of Grand Forks, N.D. who made his NHL debut last season with the Kings, appearing in 22 games, posting eight points (0-8=8) and four penalty minutes.

A sixth-round (181st overall) selection of the Kings in the 2012 NHL Draft, LaDue played for three seasons at the University of North Dakota, playing in 123 games and posting 62 points (16-46=62), a plus-53 rating and 68 penalty minutes. He capped off his college career by helping North Dakota beat top-seeded Quinnipiac to win the 2016 NCAA National Championship.

The moves set the Kings 23-man roster for tonight's Opening Night game at 7 p.m. at STAPLES Center.

In addition, the following players will wear new jersey numbers:

  • Jonny Brodzinski: No. 17
  • Oscar Fantenberg: No. 7
  • Alex Iafallo: No. 19
  • Adrian Kempe: No. 9

The Kings host the Philadelphia Flyers Thursday night to kick-off their 2017-18 regular season. The game -- which begins at 7 p.m. -- will be broadcast live on NBCSN and KABC 790 AM, the club's fourth season on our flagship radio station.

A limited number of tickets are still available for the Kings Opening Night game.

Fans are encouraged to arrive to the game early for Opening Night pregame festivities.
