Defenseman Rob Blake is an eight-time NHL All-Star. He has played in 25 out of 26 Kings games this season, and is second on the Kings among defensemen in points with thirteen (3-10=13). Blake also ranks second on the Kings with 36 hits and third on the club with 48 blocked shots. The 36-year-old native of Simcoe, Ontario, played in his 1000th NHL game on November 4 and became only the seventh player in Kings history to tally his 300th assist as a King on November 25. Blake ranks first on the club's all-time list for points by a defenseman and in goals by a defenseman, and ranks second on the Kings in all-time games played by a defenseman. The only King to ever win the Norris Trophy (1998) as the League's Best Defenseman, Blake ranks on the club's all-time Top-10 list in games played, assists, points, penalty minutes and power play goals. Originally selected by the Kings in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft, Blake served as the Kings captain from 1996-2001 and has received numerous Kings Awards throughout his career as a King (MVP – two times; Outstanding Defenseman – six times; Most Popular Player – once; Most Inspirational Player – once; Community Service – three times).

Defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky has never appeared in an NHL All-Star game. Through 26 Kings games this season, Visnovsky ranks first on the Kings in scoring by a defenseman with 18 points (7-11=18), and fourth overall on the club's scoring list. He also leads the team in average ice time per game. The 30-year-old native of Topolcany, Slovakia, is tied for second in the league in goals-scored by a defenseman and ranks seventh in the league in scoring among defensemen. Originally selected by the Kings in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Visnovsky last year became the first Kings defenseman ever to lead the team in scoring, establishing career highs with 17 goals, 50 assists and 67 points. He finished last season tied for fourth in NHL scoring among NHL defensemen and tied for fourth in assists as his 67 points were the highest single season total produced by a Kings defenseman ever. Just two points shy of 200 as a King, he ranks on the club's all-time Top-10 list in points by a defenseman and in goals by a defenseman. Visnovsky has received several Kings Awards during his career (MVP – once; Outstanding Defenseman – twice; Best Newcomer – once; Leading Scorer – once).
