The Kings picked up a well deserved point in Monday night's 3-2 shootout loss against the Metropolitan Division's best New York Rangers. After surrendering a last second power-play goal to the Rangers in the first period, a goal midway into the second period by Blake Lizotte evened the game with a beautiful wrist shot, beating Rangers netminder Igor Shesterkin above the blocker. Then, the second leading point-getter for the Kings Alex Iafallo put LA ahead with a power-play tally with just :39 seconds remaining in the second stanza.
The Kings went on to ultimately fall in a shootout, going 2-for-6 while giving up three goals on six attempts from the Rangers despite shootout goals from Quinton Byfield and Anze Kopitar. Jonathan Quick recorded 28 saves on 30 shots.
