Today the puck drops on one of the most exciting and intense hockey tournaments of the year and this year, it's back in Canada.

Two Winnipeg Jets prospects will be suiting up for their respective countries in the 2012 World Junior Hockey Championships in Edmonton and Calgary.

Forward Mark Scheifele will don Team Canada's jersey this year and Ivan Telegin will play for Team Russia.

We will keep you up to date on how both Scheifele and Telegin are doing as this tournament unfolds.

Scheifele, who will play in his first U20 World Junior Championships, was drafted seventh overall at the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He appeared in seven games with the Jets at the beginning of the 2011-12 season, scoring one goal in that time. So far in 19 games this season with the Barrie Colts of the OHL the Kitchener, Ontario born centre has notched 36 points (13 goals, 23 assists).

Ivan Telegin was drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the fourth round (101st overall) at the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He currently plays on the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League with Canada's Mark Scheifele. It is his second appearance with Russia at the World Juniors as he represented Russia at the 2010 WJC.

Telegin has 29 points (13g, 16a) in 24 games so far this season with Barrie.
