WINNIPEG, November 13, 2019 - The Winnipeg Jets are hoping to pile up the toys and spread the holiday cheer to those in need this holiday season with their annual Winnipeg Jets Toy Drive presented by Wawanesa Insurance and in support of the Christmas Cheer Board.
The campaign will run during parts of November and December, providing Jets fans with the opportunity to give at various locations. Collection bins for new unwrapped toys will be located at select Wawanesa Insurance broker partners (Arthur J. Gallagher, Western Financial Group, Wyatt Dowling Insurance Brokers, One Insurance, MIG Insurance, La Salle Insurance & Travel Services Ltd., and HUB International) from Nov. 14 to Dec. 9. All five Jets Gear locations (St.Vital, Polo Park, Kildonan Place, Bell MTS Place, and Bell MTS Iceplex) will be accepting both unwrapped toys and cash donations from Nov. 25 to Dec. 13.
Jets fans attending the Dec. 3, 8, and 10 home games are also encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy or cash donation with them, as collection bins will also be set up at the guest services booths on the 100 and 300 levels and at the Jets Gear store during those games. The Toy Drive will culminate at the Dec. 15 Winnipeg Jets game against the Philadelphia Flyers, where donation bins will be set up at every entrance to Bell MTS Place for Jets fans to donate at.
All gifts and proceeds will be given to the Christmas Cheer Board in time for the holiday season. The Christmas Cheer Board provides Christmas hampers and toys to families receiving employment income assistance as well as many of the working poor. The Cheer Board is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, having been in existence since 1919, and hands out approximately 19,000 hampers per year to those in need.
