WHL Prospect Update

Kendal McFaull:  Selected by Atlanta in the 6th round, (155th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. The 20-year old just completed his third full season in the Western Hockey League all with the Moose Jaw Warriors. This season, McFaull improved to 18 points (6g, 12a) in 67 games from seven points (1g, 6a) last season. The defenceman finished with a plus- 14 and 56 penalty minutes.

The Moose Jaw Warriors have been a solid team all season in the WHL. They finished the season with a 45-19-6-2 record with 98 points, good for second seed in the Eastern Conference behind the Edmonton Oil Kings. They are about to play for the Eastern Conference Championships against the Oil Kings after knocking off the Regina Pats 4-1, followed by a 4-0 sweep of the Medicine Hat Tigers.

So far, through the first two rounds, McFaull has recorded one goal and four assists in the nine games played and is a plus- 9.


Zachary Yuen: The 19-year old from Vancouver, BC was drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the 4th round (119th overall) at the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. The 196-pound defenceman is coming off of his fourth season with the Tri-City Americans (third full season).

Yuen has steadily improved over the last three seasons finishing with 12 goals and 26 assists in 66 games this year. His most impressive stat was his plus-minus, as he posted a plus- 45, to tie Brendan Shinnimin for the team lead.

The Tri-City Americans are in the midst of the semifinal round of the WHL playoffs, after completing a sweep of the first round over the Everett Silvertips. As of April 13th, 2012, the Americans are up 2-1, in the best of seven series over the Spokane Chiefs. So far, Yuen has recorded a goal and two assists in the seven playoff games.
