Scheifele to join Canadian Men’s National Team

The Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club is proud to announce that Jets forward Mark Scheifele will join the 2014 Canadian Men’s National Team. The team will compete at the International Ice Hockey Federation Men’s World Championship May 9-25, 2014 in Minsk, Belarus.

Scheifele, 21, played 63 games with the Winnipeg Jets this season. In that time, the right-handed centre recorded 34 points (13G, 21A) and 14 penalty minutes. He has now played in 74 career NHL games, all with Winnipeg, for 35 points (14G, 21A) and 14 penalty minutes.

The Kitchener, ON native represented Canada in the 2011 IIHF World U18 Championships and he won a bronze medal in the 2012 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships where he earned six points (3G, 3A) in six games. He was originally drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the first round, seventh overall, in the 2011 NHL Draft.
