Winnipeg Jets Prospect Highlights

Nic Petan, C – Manitoba (AHL)

Centreman Nic Petan currently sits in a tie for third in scoring on the Manitoba Moose. The 20-year-old started the season with the Jets and scored a goal in his first NHL game. Since mid-November, Petan has played for the Moose, putting up 22 points (5G, 17A) in 30 games. Petan, who was drafted by Winnipeg in the second round, 43rd overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft, has put up seven points (3G, 4A) over the last seven games, including recording his third multi-point game of the season on Jan. 26. Prior to this season, Petan played for the Portland Winterhawks of the WHL for four seasons. There he put up 358 points (110G, 248A) in 252 games.

Brendan Lemieux, LW – Windsor (OHL)

Brendan Lemieux started the season with the Barrie Colts but was traded to the Windsor Spitfires back in December. Since being traded Lemieux has averaged over a point and a half per game as he’s put up 19 goals and 12 assists for 31 total points in just 21 games, including recording 10 points in his last eight games. The 19-year-old was originally drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the second round, 31st overall, in the 2014 NHL Draft. He was then traded to the Jets along with Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford, Joel Armia and a first round draft pick for Evander Kane, Zach Bogosian and Jason Kasdorf. Lemieux has 169 total OHL points (100G, 69A) in 193 games played.

Kyle Connor, LW – Michigan (Big 10)

The Jets’ first draft pick from last June, Kyle Connor – who went 17th overall – currently sits in a tie for first in scoring in NCAA Division 1. The 19-year-old has put up 44 points (20G, 24A) in 25 games, giving him 1.76 points per game, which leads the NCAA. The University of Michigan freshman has recorded 11 total power play points, one shorthanded goal, and has put up four game winners. Connor’s plus/minus rating is currently at +29. Connor and his Michigan Wolverines sit in a tie for first in the Big 10 with an 8-2-2 record in conference games, and a 17-4-4 record overall.

Jansen Harkins, C – Prince George (WHL)

Prospect Jansen Harkins has put up 45 points (19G, 26A) in 52 games so far this year with the Prince George Cougars of the WHL. The Jets’ second-round pick from the 2015 NHL Draft has put up 11 points (8G, 3A) over the last 10 games, including a three-game point streak that ran from Jan. 19 – 23, where he put up four goals and two assists. Harkins is an assistant captain with the Cougars and has played 194 games for the team since the 2012-13 season, recording 158 points (49G, 109A) and 108 penalty minutes in that time.
