Winnipeg Jets Prospect Highlights

Brendan Lemieux – LW – Windsor (OHL) and Manitoba (AHL)

Brendan Lemieux and the Windsor Spitfires may have been eliminated from the OHL playoffs in the first round, but in his three OHL playoff games, Lemieux tallied five points (4G, 1A). Lemieux recorded a natural hat trick in Windsor’s one win against the Kichener Rangers on Mar. 30. After Lemieux’s season ended with Windsor, he made the jump to play with the Manitoba Moose. In his four games so far with Manitoba, Lemieux has put up three points (2G, 1A), including two power play goals. Lemieux was acquired by the Jets in a trade last February with the Buffalo Sabres that also brought Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford, Joel Armia and a first-round pick at the 2015 NHL Draft (Jack Roslovic) over from Buffalo. In his four seasons in the OHL, Lemieux has recorded 189 total points (106G, 83A) in 209 games.

Michael Spacek, C – Red Deer (WHL)

Red Deer Rebels’ centre Michael Spacek has helped his team reach the second round of the WHL Playoffs. In seven total post season games so far, Spacek has recorded five points (1G, 4A) and two penalty minutes. Spacek played in 61 total games in his rookie season with the Rebels this year, tallying 54 points (18G, 26A) and a +5 rating, which put him fourth on the team in scoring. The Czech player was drafted by the Jets in the fourth round, 108th overall, in the 2015 NHL Draft. Spacek also led the Czech team at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championships in Helsinki, Finland with five points (2G, 3A) in five games.

Scott Kosmachuk, RW – Manitoba (AHL)

Manitoba Moose forward Scott Kosmachuk has recorded six points (3G, 3A) over his last five games, including putting up two multi-point outings in Manitoba’s final two home games of the season. Kosmachuk currently sits fourth on the Moose roster with 34 total points (18G, 16A) in 65 games so far this season. Kosmachuk was selected in the third round, 70th overall, by the Jets during the 2012 NHL Draft. Kosmachuk is playing in his second year of pro hockey, and had is first opportunity to play in the NHL this season as he saw action in eight games for the Jets, tallying three assists and two penalty minutes. The 22-year-old now has 62 total points (32G, 30A) in 135 AHL games.
