Preview: Jets vs. Wild

by Staff Writer / Winnipeg Jets

It was tough to tell who was playing with who at this morning's skate as it seemed that Noel was doing a fair bit of shuffling.

Eric Tangradi left the practice early which contributed to the line changing. After the skate, Noel informed media that there is a little bit of fatigue going on right now and that Tangradi left due to some muscle cramping and that it wasn't an injury but was not going to be a player in tonight's game versus the Minnesota Wild.

"There were a couple of guys who were just sore. Tangradi won’t be in the game tonight, he was scheduled to play in the game but he’s day to day. He’ll be ok, it’s just a little training camp fatigue."

What we do know is the top line tonight will be familiar Blake Wheeler, Bryan Little and Andrew Ladd. Mark Scheifele will be slotted in with James Wright and Matt Halischuk but the last two lines will have to be determined during the pre-game warmup.

"If Mark is here, what’s his role going to be?" asked Noel. "That’s something I’d like him to think about. Is he top six or bottom six, because the roles can change. I don’t want to put any pressure on him, he’s an offensive player and he always will be but he needs to look at the way he needs to play. It would be really good for him to play different roles, if he’s here through the season."

With Tangradi not playing tonight, Noel says he will slot in a player from the second group but did not let the media know who it is. Speculations are that Evander Kane will jump up and join the roster.

Look for Devin Setoguchi to play a hard-fought game tonight as he'll be facing his former Wild team tonight and is looking foward to the challenge and the new rivalry.

Young Josh Morrissey will get a great opportunity tonight to play with Dustin Byfuglien on the back end. He'll really be looking to make as good an impression as he can tonight in front of Jets fans and management. Tobias Enstrom, Zach Bogosian, Zach Redmond and Adam Pardy round out the rest of the blueline roster.

Michael Hutchinson and Al Montoya are listed as the goaltenders tonight. Hutchinson played last Sunday night against the Ottawa Senators and will look to make a mark tonight. Montoya is yet to play in a pre-season game.
