Morrissey, Rockets take Game 1

Jets prospect Josh Morrissey had two assists as the Kelowna Rockets defeated the Brandon Wheat Kings 4-3 in Game 1 of the Western Hockey League Championship Series Friday night in Brandon.

Leon Draisaitl broke a 3-3 tie with 1:50 to play in the second period, vaulting the Rockets to victory. Tyson Baillie, Justin Kirkland and Chance Braid also scored in the win, while goaltender Jackson Whistle made 25 saves.

Rihards Bukarts (2) and Peter Quenneville tallied for the Wheat Kings.

Morrissey has 13 points (2G, 11A) and 18 penalty minutes in 10 playoff games.

Game 2 goes tonight back at Westman Place.
