Morrissey one game away

Jets prospect Josh Morrissey and the Kelowna Rockets are one game away from capturing the franchise’s fourth Ed Chynoweth Cup.

Morrissey was +3 with four penalty minutes in a 5-3 Game 3 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings on Monday, giving the Rockets a commanding 3-0 lead in the Western Hockey League Championship Series.

Leon Draisaitl, Gage Quinney, Dillon Dube and Rourke Chartier (2) scored for the Rockets, while goaltender Jackson Whistle turned aside 26 shots.

Morgan Klimchuk, Nolan Patrick and Tim McGauley tallied for the Wheat Kings.

Morrissey – the 13th in the 2013 NHL Draft – has 14 points (2G, 12A) in 12 games this post-season.

Game 4 goes Wednesday at 9:05pm CT back at Prospera Place in Kelowna.
