MAY 11, 2012: USA 3, KAZAKSTAN 2 (OT)

by Staff Writer / Winnipeg Jets
The Americans were close to being upset by Kazakstan Friday morning as the two teams were knotted at two at the end of regulation.

The last time these two teams met back in May, 2010, the US defeated Kazakstan 10-0.

Justin Faulk, who scored earlier in the game, was able to sink the game-winning goal with just 22 seconds remaining in overtime to seal the 3-2 win for the US. Kazakstan goaltender Vitali Kolesnik was superb making 47 saves for Kazakhstan.

Jim Slater was held off the score sheet for the Americans but was excellent yet again in the face off circle, going 72% (10-4). He had one shot on net, had one minor penalty and played 13:38 minutes for the US.
