The Winnipeg Jets hockey club, in conjunction with the National Hockey League, today announced that forward Patrik Laine has been named the NHL's rookie of the month for February.
Laine, 18, tallied 15 points (8G, 7A) in 11 games in February, which was 10th in league scoring during the month. He had a point in eight of the 11 games, including six multi-point games. Laine had a hat trick in a 5-2 win over the Dallas Stars on Feb. 14, which was his third hat trick of the season. He's the only player in NHL history to register three hat tricks before his 19th birthday. Laine ended the month on a six-game point streak (8G, 4A), scoring in five of the six games.

On the season, Laine leads NHL rookies in scoring with 56 points (31G, 25A) in 56 games, which has him tied for 13th in NHL scoring.
This is the first time this season Laine has been selected the NHL's rookie of the month.
