WINNIPEG - Patrik Laine left Tuesday's game against the LA Kings and did not return with a lower-body injury.
Laine blocked a shot from Kings defenceman Alec Martinez early in the second period, hobbling off under his own power after the puck made contact with the inside of his left leg. Laine, who entered the night tied with Alex Ovechkin with a league-leading 43 goals, had to be helped to the dressing room after toughing it out on the bench for a few minutes following the incident.

Head Coach Paul Maurice updated the status of the star winger during his post-game press conference, downplaying the injury and even cracking a few jokes to lighen the mood.
"We think he's going to be fine," Maurice said. "We don't think it's anything long term."
When pressed to identify the exact location of the injury and whether or not with the Finn would be available for the Jets' next game, Friday against the Anaheim Ducks, the coach deadpanned: "It's a concussion," he said, as the media chuckled.

"We'll see how it comes (back), but we've already had him looked at in a couple of different ways. There's nothing sinister."
By exiting the game early, Laine had his NHL-high 15-game point streak snapped. The run was the longest ever by a teenager, and will finish with the sophomore recording 18 goals and 26 points over that span.

The Jets are off on Wednesday but will return to the practice ice on Thursday when a further update on Laine's condition is expected.
