Jets sign Sami Niku to a two-year contract

WINNIPEG, Oct. 30, 2020-The Winnipeg Jets announced today they have agreed to terms with defenceman Sami Niku on a two-year contract with an average annual value of $725,000.

Niku, 24, played 17 games for the Jets last season and had five assists and 12 penalty minutes. The native of Haapavesi, Finland also played in 18 games for the Manitoba Moose last season and recorded 14 points (3G, 11A) and 12 PIMs. Niku made his NHL debut for Winnipeg in 2017-18 and has recorded 10 points (2G, 8A) and 14 PIMs in 48 career games.
Niku was drafted by the Jets in the seventh round (198th overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft.
