WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Jets announced today they have agreed to terms with forward Mason Appleton on a three-year contract with an average annual value of $2,166,667.

Appleton, 26, was reacquired by the Jets in a trade with the Seattle Kraken on March 19/22 after being claimed by Seattle in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft. The Green Bay, Wisc. native had 21 points (8G, 13A) and 30 penalty minutes in 68 games for the Jets and the Kraken last season. Appleton, Winnipeg's sixth-round pick (168th overall) in the 2015 NHL Draft, has recorded 64 points (28G, 36A) and 68 PIMs in 206 career NHL games, adding another three points (1G, 2A) in nine playoff games for the Jets.
Appleton played two years for Michigan State University before making his professional debut for the Manitoba Moose in 2017. He won the AHL Rookie of the Year in 2017-18 after recording 66 points (22G, 44A) in 76 games for the Moose.
