Jets sign Derek Forbort to a one-year contract

WINNIPEG, Oct. 11, 2020-The Winnipeg Jets announced today they have agreed to terms with defenceman Derek Forbort on a one-year contract with an average annual value of $1,000,000.

Forbort, 28, played 20 games for the Calgary Flames and Los Angeles Kings last season and recorded one assist and four penalty minutes before making his playoff debut in 10 postseason games for the Flames where he had two points (1G, 1A) and two PIMs. The Duluth, Minnesota native has played 275 NHL games and posted 53 points (6G, 47A) and 176 PIMs.
Forbort was originally drafted by Los Angeles in the first round (15th overall) in the 2010 NHL Draft.
