by Staff Writer / Winnipeg Jets

The Winnipeg Jets announced they have recalled forward Nik Ehlers following the conclusion of his QMJHL season with the Halifax Mooseheads.

Ehlers, 19, completed his second season with the Mooseheads posting 37 goals and 64 assists for 101 points in 51 games. It was the second consecutive season Ehlers posted over 100 points for Halifax. Ehlers, who was selected by Winnipeg with the ninth overall pick at the 2014 NHL Draft, will join the Jets after the Mooseheads were eliminated by the Moncton Wildcats in game seven in the second round of the QMJHL playoffs. Ehlers finished third in 2014-15 QMJHL regular season scoring and is currently leading the QMJHL playoff scoring race with 31 points. Ehlers led Denmark’s U20 team to its first-ever win at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship posting four points in five games in the tournament.
