The Winnipeg Jets are pleased to announce they have agreed to terms with forward Jim Slater on a new contract. As per club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Slater, 29, moved into a key role for the Jets this past season, playing in a career-high 78 games. The 2002 first-round draft pick also earned a career-high 21 points (13G, 8A) along with 42 penalty minutes. The Lapeer, MI native has played in 449 career NHL games between Atlanta and Winnipeg for 121 career points (60G, 61A) and 322 penalty minutes. Slater was originally drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the first round, 30th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
