Jets agree to terms with Brian Strait

Winnipeg, MB - The Winnipeg Jets announced they have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent defenceman Brian Strait on a one-year, one-way contract worth an AAV of $600,000.

Strait, 28, has played the last four seasons with the New York Islanders after five seasons in the Pittsburgh Penguins organization. Last season the Waltham, MA. native had six points (1G, 5A) with the Islanders. Over his NHL career, Strait has 27 points (6G, 21A) in 182 career NHL games. He was drafted in third round, 65th overall, by the Penguins in the 2006 NHL Draft.

Strait has won the 2009 NCAA title with Boston University and helped the United States to a gold medal at the 2006 IIHF World Under-18 Championship.
