WINNIPEG, June 17, 2019 - The Winnipeg Jets announced today they have acquired defenceman Neal Pionk and a first-round draft pick, 20th overall, in the 2019 NHL Draft from the New York Rangers in exchange for defenceman Jacob Trouba.

Pionk, 23, tallied 26 points (6G, 20A) in 73 games for the Rangers last season and led Rangers defencemen with 13 power play points (2G, 11A) in his first full season in the NHL. In 101 NHL games, Pionk has 40 points (7G, 33A). The product of Omaha, Neb. had an illustrious amateur career prior to turning pro despite going undrafted. He was named the USHL Defenceman of the Year with the Sioux City Musketeers in 2014-15 after tallying 48 points (7G, 41A) in 53 games. He won an NCAA championship with the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs in 2016-17 after racking up 34 points (7G, 27A) in 42 games. Internationally, Pionk represented the United States at the 2018 World Championship, winning a bronze medal.
