General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff announced today that with their first selection in the 2015 National Hockey League Draft, the Winnipeg Jets are proud to select left winger Kyle Connor.
Connor, 18, played 56 games with the Youngstown Phantoms of the United States Hockey League last season. In that time, the Michigan native recorded 80 points (34G, 46A) and six penalty minutes. He also appeared in four post-season games with the club, and recorded a point per game (3G 1A) with zero penalty minutes. In his third year in the USHL, Connor led the league in scoring.
Connor, earned the title of both Player and Forward of the Year in the USHL for his play during the 2014-15 season. Connor was also named to the USHL First All-Star Team in both 2013-14 and 2014-15. Connor was selected to the 2014-15 USHL All-Academic Team and competed in the 2015 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.
Internationally, Connor was part of the United States gold medal-winning team at the 2014 Under-18 World Junior Championship. Connor recorded seven points (4G, 3A) in seven games in the tournament.
