It was the opening week of the 2017-18 NHL regular season, and what a week it was! The Jets hosted the Toronto Maple Leafs in the home opener and then hit road with stops in Calgary and Edmonton. While things didn't go their way in Calgary, the Jets secured their first win of the season against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers this past Monday.
Both fans and players alike were uniting together across social media to celebrate the new season with one common mantra: Rise Together.

And even Mayor Brian Bowman got in on the excitement!

Captain Blake Wheeler joined Instagram in anticipation of the season opener, with a common message as well.

Hours before puck drop on Wednesday night, the Jets announced the contract extension of Nikolaj Ehlers, who took to Instagram to share his excitement and appreciation of the city.
Instagram from @ehlers27: Proud to be able to call myself a Jet for the next 8 years! Thank you to the @nhljets for giving me this chance! THANK YOU Winnipeg for the incredible support Now it's time for all of us to #RiseTogether
But it wasn't until Monday night, in Edmonton, the Jets were able to secure their first W of the season.
It was Blake Wheeler's 700th game in the NHL.

While Jets defenceman Tucker Poolman made his NHL regular season debut.

But the most memorable moment of the night wasn't until late in the third period, when Ehlers secured the win with a natural hat trick.

The Jets finish up their road trip Thursday when they play the Vancouver Canucks. Until then, they're set to practice, train, and spend a few days on Canada's west coast.
