WINNIPEG - Tuesday marked the fourth day since the Winnipeg Jets put the finishing touches on the series win over the Minnesota Wild, and at the time, the Jets knew the gap before the start of the Second Round would be crucial for injured players to make a return.
It just so happened that Tuesday's practice showed some progress in that regard.
After wearing non-contact jerseys on Monday, both Nikolaj Ehlers and Toby Enstrom were back in regular colours.
Jets head coach Paul Maurice wouldn't confirm Enstrom's availability for Game One against the Predators (yet to be scheduled), but was happy to see the veteran defenceman back on the ice paired with Dustin Byfuglien.

"We feel that Dustin plays his best hockey with Toby. He plays very well, but there's a real comfort level there," said Maurice.
"Toby's great strengths are his abilities to touch the puck first in heavy traffic, and move it well. He gets to it early, and he can make that inside play, that short pass under pressure, which is their forecheck game. So we've missed him in those games, we think he's going to be a real good player for us."
Enstrom missed the final eight games of the regular season, and didn't play in any of the five games against the Minnesota Wild.
Ehlers, meanwhile, was a late scratch prior to Game Five against Minnesota. He was kept out after feeling "off" after the morning skate that day, and had what Maurice described as a "malaise."
Maurice joked the 22-year-old may have passed that on to 20-year-old Patrik Laine, who left practice early today (as he did on Sunday).
"He's been hanging around with Nik too much. He caught the malaise," grinned Maurice. "It's a light malaise though."
The Jets skated for 40 minutes today, and plan to be on the ice tomorrow as well. Maurice and his staff have two practice plans ready, depending on when Game One falls this week.
If it's sooner than later, tomorrow's session will be shorter. On the flip side, the Jets will stay on the ice a bit longer on Wednesday if the game isn't until later in the week.
Either way, the Jets know they'll be ready.
"They're a good team. It's going to be a tough series," said Blake Wheeler.
"Our focus is on our game, playing incredibly fast. We work on that every day. We try and bring that to every single game.
"We're locked in right now. When they tell us when to play, we're going to be ready to go."
ICE CHIPS
Connor Hellebuyck had a bit of a scare at practice, after a shot caught him up high near the mask.
The 24-year-old Vezina Trophy finalist took some time to get to his feet, but returned to practice after a short visit with the team's medical staff.
When he saw Hellebuyck slow to his feet, Maurice looked over at goaltending coach Wade Flaherty.
"Wade had a half smile on his face so I thought we were good," said Maurice. "If he had been tearing up then I would have been more concerned."
Joel Armia - who left the Game Five win over Minnesota - also returned to practice on Tuesday in a non-contact jersey.
