The Winnipeg Jets hockey club, in conjunction with the National Hockey League, today announced that goaltender Connor Hellebuyck has been named the NHL's Second Star of the Week for the week ending Jan. 21/18.
Hellebuyck, 24, led the Jets to two straight wins last week coming out of the player break. He stopped 30 of 31 shots and also saved both shootout attempts in a 2-1 shootout win against the Calgary Flames on Saturday before starting again the next night and saving all 29 shots in a 1-0 shutout victory against the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday. In total, he saved 59 of the 60 shots he faced last week for a .983 save percentage. He also had a 0.48 goals-against average in the two games.

On the season, Hellebuyck has a 25-6-6 record with a 2.29 goals-against average and .926 save percentage. He's in the NHL's top 10 in wins (2nd), goals-against average (7th) and save percentage (7th). He also leads all goaltenders in home wins with 17 and is tied for second in the NHL this season with four shutouts. Hellebuyck was also named to the Central Division team for the NHL All-Star Game that takes place this upcoming weekend in Tampa Bay.
This is the second time in his career and second time in a month that Hellebuyck has been selected in the NHL's Three Stars of the Week after he was selected as First Star for the week ending on Dec. 31/17. He joins Blake Wheeler (Dec. 4 - First Star) and Nikolaj Ehlers (Oct. 16 - First Star) as members of the Jets that have earned NHL Three Stars of the Week honours this season.
