The Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club is pleased to announce that Senior Vice President, Director of Hockey Operations/Assistant General Manager Craig Heisinger has been named to the management staff for Canada’s National Men’s Team participating in the 2014 Deautschland Cup and 2014 Spengler Cup. Heisinger is joined on the management team of both events by Steve Tambellini and Scott White.
This marks the second consecutive year that Heisinger will serve on Canada’s management staff for the Spengler Cup after helping shape the 2013 team. The 2014 Deautschland Cup will take place from Nov. 7-9 in Munich, Germany, followed by the 2014 Spengler Cup, which will take place from Dec. 26-31 in Davos, Switzerland.
Heisinger has also worked with Team Canada as a support staff member on three previous occasions, serving as the Equipment Manager at the 1988 IIHF World Junior Championship, 1997 IIHF World Championship, winning a Gold Medal, and the 1998 Olympic Winter Games.
Heisinger is in his fourth season with the Winnipeg Jets in his role as Senior Vice-President & Director, Hockey Operations/Assistant General Manager. In his role, Heisinger also serves as the General Manager of the St. John's IceCaps, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets. Heisinger joined the Jets organization after working with the Manitoba Moose in different capacities throughout the team’s 15-year existence in both the International Hockey League and American Hockey League. Most notably, he served as Manitoba’s General Manager for the final nine seasons during which time the Moose accumulated a record of 381-254-35-50 (0.588 winning percentage) and reached the Calder Cup Playoffs in eight of those years, including a berth in the Calder Cup Final in 2009.
