PREGAME | JetsTV Road Report

PREGAME | Jack Roslovic

"It's maybe a version of the Scheifele and Wheeler idea," said Maurice. "Mark Scheifele can play this game a bunch of different ways. He can be a passer. He can be a guy that just works in the holes and can be effective at a slower pace. But Blake, for him to play his game, he drives. So that makes Mark speed up, which Mark can do.
"I look at Roslovic and I see a lot of the same things. He can slow the game, and play in holes and short passes, and he's a really smart guy. But we can get Nik going there, it will force him to play the game at a little faster pace. He can do that as well."
Ehlers wants to get back to shooting the puck a bit more, as the 22-year-old has been held to just two shots on goal in two appearances so far.
But that doesn't necessarily just come from shooting the puck from anywhere. Ehlers - who scored 29 times last season - knows a lot goes in to creating chances.
"Things haven't been going the way I've wanted them to," said Ehlers, who knows skating is at the centre of making things happen on the ice.
"I make things too hard. I slow the game down and I look for that extra pass," said Ehlers. "If you see a game where I really skate, and you see a game when I don't skate, there is a huge difference. My game, the way I play, is all speed. Just have to get back to moving my legs."

PREGAME | Nikolaj Ehlers

Roslovic will get his third look at the centre position tonight in Calgary. The 21-year-old Columbus, Ohio native has been held off the scoresheet in his first two appearances this preseason, but is excited to play with Ehlers and Lemieux tonight.
The one thing that stands out to Roslovic about Ehlers is the Dane's speed.
"We match pretty well in that sense. It's fun to move up and down the ice with him," said Roslovic.
"It helps a lot. He makes the right reads. He's been in the league for a little bit now, and he's matured. You can really tell. Playing with Patrik (Laine) and (Bryan Little), he's learned a lot from them too. I think playing with a guy like that can definitely add to my game."
Both C.J. Suess and Tucker Poolman will draw into the line-up again tonight after helping the Jets to a 5-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers Sunday night at Bell MTS Place.

PREGAME | Paul Maurice

Neither one took part in the morning skate at Bell MTS Iceplex today as a result, so warm-up will provide the first chance to see how two of the forward lines shake out.
Maurice has liked what he's seen from a number of forwards in camp, and says the multiple back-to-back scenarios have given him an opportunity to see more players than he may have otherwise.
"It encourages you regarding the depth of your team," said Maurice. "When a player has a good camp and he's put up some numbers, in the event you call them up, they always come up with maybe a little more confidence. They look forward to coming in, and the guys remember the quality of their work in camp."
Laurent Brossoit will get his second start of the preseason. He'll be looking to follow up his 39-save effort from a 2-1 Jets win over the Minnesota Wild on Sept. 17.
"He's a fit, powerful man," said Maurice. "We've had two or three sequences - one was with the Scheifele line - where they got off three rockets on him, and he got all of them. He can explode across his crease. He's a very powerful guy in the net.
"It's good to have the player that is your scheduled back-up to do that to your 'A' players every once in a while. They have a big smile on their face. They like that."
Puck drop from Scotiabank Saddledome is set for 8 pm CT.
ICE CHIPS
Logan Stanley was on the projected roster for tonight's game against the Calgary Flames, but left morning skate early.
His name has been replaced on the projected roster with veteran Dmitry Kulikov.
