WINNIPEG - Friday's win over the Colorado Avalanche was as close to the 'identity game' the Winnipeg Jets (9-5-1) have had this season.
Tonight against the New Jersey Devils (6-7-1), they hope to take another step toward that.
"We want to fight to become that team on a consistent basis," said head coach Paul Maurice.
They'll be facing a motivated Devils team, who wrap up a seven-game road trip tonight in Winnipeg.
New Jersey dropped a 6-1 decision to Toronto on Friday, but the score doesn't fool Maurice and his staff.

Kyle Connor has two points in three career games against the Devils. He also opened the scoring in Friday's win over Colorado, helping his team move to 5-2-1 when scoring first this season.
It's a start the Jets forward would like to see his team replicate.
"I thought we came out well and defended really well. We had good sticks all over the ice. That start really helped us too," said Connor, whose seventh of the season came on the power play, the 11th consecutive game the Jets have scored on the man advantage.
"(We came out) really skating and defending them - shutting them dow. We had good transition off that and created some opportunities."

It was an optional skate for the Jets this morning with 13 skaters taking part. Laurent Brossoit was on the ice, but it will be Connor Hellebuyck getting the start against Cory Schneider.
Based on Saturday's practice, the Jets line-up is expected to look like this:
Ehlers-Scheifele-Wheeler
Connor-Little-Perreault
Tanev-Lowry-Laine
Petan-Copp-Roslovic
Morrissey-Trouba
Chiarot-Byfuglien
Morrow-Myers
Both Joe Morrow and Dmitry Kulikov have been rotating in that spot next to Tyler Myers, but with Kulikov out for at least a month with an upper-body injury sustained against the Colorado Avalanche, Morrow will play tonight.
The Jets also recalled Sami Niku from the Manitoba Moose early Sunday morning. Niku has five points in 12 games for the Moose this season.

Morrow has played 11 games this season, his last outing coming in Finland against the Florida Panthers. The 25-year-old had a shot on goal in just over 13 minutes of ice time.
"Trying to find a rhythm and consistency in playing a third pairing role is a little more difficult than anybody gives justice for it," said Morrow after Saturday's practice. "But to keep working hard and keep battling with this team, and being able to play for the Jets here is an honour in itself. Every day I've been in the line-up I've been excited to play. I'm excited to be a part of this process too."
Puck drop is set for 6 pm CT from Bell MTS Place.
