With one game remaining in their regular season, the Winnipeg Jets (24-20-3) are facing a true must-win situation for the first time this year when they take on the Montreal Canadiens (27-14-5) at MTS Centre on Thursday night. The ninth-place Jets are trailing the Senators and Rangers by a single point. Meanwhile, the Canadiens have one more game after Thursday as they try to clinch the Northeast Division title. Despite losing 5-3 in Washington on Tuesday, the Jets are 6-1-1 in their last eight games. The Canadiens have hit a rough patch of late, losing five of their last six. The two previous matchups this season between these clubs have taken place at Bell Centre, where Montreal won by scores of 4-3 and 4-1.

James Wright put the Jets on the board first on a nice one-timer wrist shot, 25 feet in front of Carey Price. Chris Thorburn dug the puck out from behind the net and was able to find Wright waiting patiently for the pass. 1-0 Jets.

After a mad scramble in front of Ondrej Pavelec, Rene Bourque pulled the Canadiens even with the Jets. Alex Galchenyuk was able to find the loose puck in the crease and quickly pass to Bourque to make no mistake snapping it into an open space. 1-1

That's how things would end at the MTS Centre tonight as the Jets fell to a 4-2 final in their final regular season game. Final shots were 30-25 in favour of the Canadiens.
