While the Winnipeg Jets (19-19-2) need to gain ground on teams above them in the standings in order to make the 2013 postseason, for the second straight game they have a chance to put more distance between them and an opponent just below them in the standings when they face the Buffalo Sabres (16-17-6) at MTS Centre on Tuesday. The Jets snapped a five-game losing skid with a home win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday afternoon (4-1 W) while the Sabres enter this one having won three straight. The Jets took the only previous meeting between the clubs on Feb. 19 in Buffalo by a score of 2-1. These two teams meet one last time on Apr. 22.
Starting Jets Lineup: Bryan Little, Andrew Ladd, Blake Wheeler, Tobias Enstrom, Dustin Byfuglien and Ondrej Pavelec in net.

Tobias Enstrom took a big hit into the boards from Steve Ott and head off to the bench in discomfort. He did return to the ice for a short shift shortly after however, would exit stage right early and walk straight to the dressing room. Will wait for comfirmation on his condition.

With about four minutes left to play in the opening period, Bryan Little took a shot off the hand from a Ron Hainsey and went to the dressing room for repairs. He also did not return to the bench.
Through 20 minutes of play, the Jets and Sabres were scoreless with the shots favouring the Jets 11-8. SECOND PERIOD
4:54: JETS GOAL:
Kyle Wellwood put the Jets on the board first with his fourth of the season and second in as many games. Evander Kane sent a sharp-angle shot on net from the corner that Ryan Miller spit out right to Wellwood alone in the slot. With a ton of time, Wellwood made no mistake burying the rebound to put the Jets up 1-0.

10:05: JETS GOAL
: Aaron Gagnon added to the Jets lead with his first of the season to put the Jets up 2-0. After Dustin Byfuglien snatched the puck away from a Sabre along the boards deep in the visitors zone, he was able to take a quick look and send a nice one-time feed to Gagnon in the slot to beat Miller stick-side.

19:38: JETS GOAL:
Andrew Ladd adds a third goal to the board in the second period to put his team up by three, with 22 seconds on the board. Bryan Little carried the puck across the blueline with Ladd streaking up ice on his right. He sent a perfect pass to Ladd, who made a nifty move scooping the puck around Miller and tucking it into the back of the net. 3-0 Jets.
Through two periods of play the Jets lead the Sabres 3-0. Shots on goal are 23-16 Jets. THIRD PERIOD
4:54: SABRES GOAL:
Kevin Porter put the Sabres on the board after he sent a sharp-angle shot from the corner that hit Blake Wheeler's body sending the puck past Pavelec. Porter credited with the goal. 3-1 Jets.

19:34: JETS GOAL: Blake Wheeler seals the deal with an empty-net goal to make it a 4-1 final. Andrew Ladd found him ahead of the play in front of the empty cage in the dying seconds of regulation. Bryan Little got the second helper and second assist of the night.
Final shots on net were 30-30.
