WINNIPEG, Dec. 17, 2019 - True North Sports + Entertainment is supporting local aid organizations in their efforts to collect new and gently used warm winter clothing for Winnipeg's homeless, who are now in greater need with the colder winter weather setting in.
Since temperatures have dropped, North Point Douglas Women's Centre has seen a dramatic increase in need with more than 150 people dropping in each day looking for various items of warm clothing.

"Too many times our team comes across people who do not have the basic needs of proper winter boots, toques, mitts and socks. This is a constant need in these Winnipeg winters for many of our community," said Tara Zajac, the centre's Executive Director.
Winnipeggers can drop off new or gently used adult and youth winter clothing at any Jets Gear location through Dec. 24, including at the Bell MTS Place Jets Gear location during upcoming Jets and Moose home games. Please visit

Bell MTS Place Jets Gear will collect clothing at the following December Jets and Moose home games:
Additional collection bins will be set up at the Guest Services booths on the Bell MTS Place concourse at the Winnipeg Jets games on Dec. 17, 19 and 23.
Items of particular need include socks, toques, mitts/gloves and coats and all forms of winter clothing are gratefully welcomed.
All clothing collected will be turned over to the North Point Douglas Women's Centre whose team will continue to distribute clothing to those in need.
