By the Mile:

The San Jose Sharks will log the most mileage in the league, with over 57,000 miles ahead of them. The Jets will travel a total of 46,477 miles during the entire 2013-14 season. That makes them the 9th most traveled of all the NHL teams. In 2012-13 (full-season), the team traveled 44,627. New York Rangers are the least traveled team with 29,839 and New York Islanders right behind them with 29,933.

Season Opener:
The Winnipeg Jets will start the 2013-14 season on the road at Rexall Place against the Edmonton Oilers. This marks the first time the Winnipeg Jets 2.0 will visit the Western Conference opponent. The lone time the Jets and Oilers have faced off was on February 27, 2012 at the MTS Centre. The visitors upset the home team 5-3.

The Jets have 13 single-game road trips this season.

The Champs:
The Jets welcome the Stanley Cup Champions into Winnipeg for the first time as Jets 2.0 on Saturday November 2, 2013 at 2:00 pm. The defending Cup champions will return later in the month on November 21st. The Jets will meet them in Chicago on November 6th and again on January 26th, 2014.

The Jets will play in 10 afternoon games with a start time between 12-2pm.

Longest homestand:
The Jets will host a six-game homestand from October 11th-October 22nd, and will play eight of nine games inside the MTS Centre starting on October 4th, 2013. The lone away game of that stretch comes when they visit the Wild in Minnesota on Oct.10th.

With the 2012-13 shortened season, the Eastern and Western Conferences did not play each other and the 2011-12 season did not have all Western teams visit the MTS Centre. With the new CBA and realignment, each team will visit every building.

The teams who will visit Winnipeg (Jets 2.0) for the first time next season are:

-Detroit Red Wings

-Chicago Blackhawks

-Vancouver Canucks

-Calgary Flames

The New Jersey Devils have the most back-to-back games this season with 22, the Carolina Hurricanes are second with 20, followed by the Islanders and Blackhawks with 18. The Colorado Avalanche, San Jose Sharks and Winnipeg Jets have the fewest with 10.

Break time:
The NHL will take a 16-day timeout for the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. After 10 games on Feb. 8, 2014, the League will shut down until Feb. 26, when there are four games on the schedule. The 16-day intermission is two days longer than the Olympic break in 2010, when the NHL shut down after games Feb. 14 and resumed with one game March 1.

Happy Holidays:
As has been the case beginning in 1972, there are no games on Christmas. This season's schedule increases the Christmas break from two days to three, meaning that after 28 of the 30 teams play Dec. 23, the League will be dark from Dec. 24-26.

New Year’s Tradition:
The Jets will once again play at the MTS Centre on December 31st. This year, they will welcome the Buffalo Sabres into Winnipeg to ring in the New Year.
